Araghchi briefed Wang on the latest developments in “the Iranian-American talks” and outlined Iran’s next steps, stating that “facts have proven the impossibility of resolving the political crisis by military means.” He added that “Iran will firmly defend its sovereignty and national dignity, while continuing to build consensus through peaceful talks in pursuit of a comprehensive and lasting solution.”

He also referred to the Strait of Hormuz, saying that “the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz can be resolved as soon as possible.”

Araghchi expressed support for Chinese diplomatic initiatives, including President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposal on promoting regional peace and stability. He said Iran “highly values” the initiative and “appreciates China’s firm stance on the right side of history and its tireless efforts to prevent the situation from deteriorating and escalating.”

“Iran trusts China and expects it to continue playing a positive role in promoting peace and ending conflict,” Araghchi said, while also supporting the establishment of “a new post-war regional structure capable of coordinating development and security.”

He reiterated that China is “a comprehensive strategic partner of Iran,” adding that Iran “has always adhered to the one-China principle” and “supports China in safeguarding its core interests.” Araghchi also pointed to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity “to enhance exchanges at all levels, explore cooperation potential, provide mutual support, and deepen comprehensive cooperation.”

Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s position on the regional situation, describing it as a “critical turning point from war to peace.” He stated that “a complete cessation of hostilities is indispensable, re-igniting conflict is strongly rejected, and continuing talks is of vital importance.”

He expressed China’s support for Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security and welcomed Tehran’s willingness to pursue a political solution through diplomatic means.

On maritime concerns, Wang noted international calls to restore safe navigation, expressing hope that relevant parties would respond “as soon as possible to the strong calls of the international community.”

On the nuclear issue, Wang said China appreciates Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons while affirming its “legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.”

He also encouraged countries in the Gulf and broader Middle East to take greater responsibility for regional stability, promoting dialogue to advance cooperation and good-neighborly relations.

Wang said China is ready to continue efforts to reduce tensions, facilitate negotiations, and support the creation of a regional peace and security framework led by countries in the region.

Describing China as a “reliable strategic partner of Iran,” Wang said Beijing is prepared to deepen political trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between both countries.
